Learn to sew! The Factory is hosting ongoing Studio Make it You workshop sessions to introduce the fun of sewing to young people in our community.

Session One: Fridays 10:00am and 4:30pm

Get your license to sew!

What Studio Artists will learn:

 The basics of their sewing machine.

 Make a customized pillow to put into practice their new skills

Walk away from this first session with basic sewing techniques, a license to sew, your very own pillow and a desire to learn more!

This session is designed to show new sewers the world of creative possibilities available to them once they learn the basics.

Session Two: Fridays 10:00am and 4:00pm

Destroy your Denim

Tired of paying $200 for jeans that look like they have been to the Civil War and back?!?!? Fashionably destroy and embellish your jeans for just pennies- join in this jeans revival!

What Studio Artists will learn:

 Tricks for working with denim and stretch denim

 Important needle knowledge

 How to “Un-Sew” correctly

 Artistic confidence

Walk away from this session with techniques for “destroying” and embellishing jeans, demonstrated on their own unique pair.

Session Three: Friday, October 27, 2006 - 10:00am

 Saturday, October 28, 2006 - 2:00pm

Join the Pillow Patrol 11 Rally your friends to help make pillowcases for hospital pediatric wards, homeless shelters, domestic abuse shelters and victims of natural disasters. It’s fun, easy and it feels good to help other kids who might not be sleeping in their own beds tonight.

 Basting, clipping, stabilizing, topstitching

 Lining techniques
